He held it up for all to see & asked the students “How muchdo you think this glass weighs?” ’50gms!’….. ’100gms!’…..’125gms’ … the students answered. “I really don’t know unless I weigh it,” said the proffessor, “but, my question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?” ‘Nothing’ …..the students said. ‘Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?’ the proffessor asked. ‘Your arm would begin to ache’ said one of the student “You’re right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?” “Your arm could go numb; you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go to hospital for sure!” ….. Ventured another student&all the students laughed “Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?” Asked the proffessor. ‘No’…. Was the answer. “Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?” The students were puzzled. “What should I do now to comeout of pain?” asked proffessor again. “Put the glass down!” said one of the students “Exactly!” said the proffessor. Life’s problems are something like this. Hold it for a few minutes in your head & they seem OK. Think of them for a long time& they begin to ache. Hold it even longer& they beginto paralyse you. You will not beable to do anything. It’s important to think of the challenges or problems in your life, But EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to ‘PUT THEM DOWN’ at the end of every day before you go to sleep… That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh &strong & canhandle any issue, any challenge that comes your way! Army plans to set up finishing schools to address shortage ofofficers All the way from LUCKNOW: In order to fill up over 10,000 vacancies in the officer cadre of the Indian Army, the Central Command is in the process of setting up 'finishingschools' in the coming months across the seven states that fall under its purview. The finishing schools will be in addition to the existing Sainik Schools and senior army officials are coordinating with the concerned state governments to finalise the process of identifying land and setting up campuses in coming days. The finishing school will groom students according to the need of armed forces and students passing out from such institutions will have a comparative edge over others. Army officials also stressed that those who have secured NCC 'C' certificate will be encouraged to join the army directly after clearing the testof the Services Selection Board. Such cadets can directly approach the SSBs instead of the UPSC route. General Officer Commanding-in-C hief, Central Command, Lieutenant General Anil Chait made the announcement during the media briefing that took place on Saturday noon regarding the activities planned for golden jubilee of the Central Command. The command will finish 50 years of its establishment in May 2013. The focus of the army officials during the celebrations will be on empowering of youths and promotion of sports. It should be noted that significant portion of young men do not prefer to join Indian armed forces, and are lured by handsome pay packages that private sector such as financial corporations, offer. Officials want youngsters to experience the adventurous lifein armed forces first hand by exposing them to sports such as cycle polo, horse polo, and horse riding among others during the celebration period. The venues where events will be held will be open to people and officials said that general public will also be encouraged to learn the sports. The army will also be organising Lucknow half marathon on December 23 for which registrations will begin from December 9. School students and general public can also participate in the marathon.

Parents might be puzzled by the modern day text lingo, however, using abbreviations like 'lol', 'gr8' and 'b4' can improve your child's writing skills, a new study has found. According to a UK government research, there is a positive relationship between so-called "textisms" and pupils' ability to draft essays. The study, commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE), found that mobile phone use required a"certain degree of phonological awareness" thatcould drive up standards of written work, 'The Telegraph'reported. They also found that pupils who regularly wrote blogs and used social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter were"significantly better writers"than those who shunned thetechnology altogether. Pupils often perform worse inwriting than in reading, maths and science at all ages. Last year, a quarter ofpupils in UK failed to hit national targets in writing at the age of 11, with boys lagging far behind girls, according to figures. Critics have suggested that the influence of technology particularly mobile phones and social networking websites is fuelling a decline in pupils' written skills by blurring the boundaries between colloquialisms and standard English. The DfE study, which was based on an analysis of existing international evidence on children's writing, admitted that technology was starting to have an impact on student's school work. It quoted one that found"technology-influenced features" regularly appeared in essays and other written projects. "For example, 50 per cent of teenagers said that they sometimes use informal writing styles instead of proper capitalisation and punctuation in their school assignments, and 38 per cent have used text shortcuts such as 'lol' (laughout loud)," the study said. The report said that text messaging was the most common form of writing usedby school age children, employed at least once a month by 69 per cent of pupils. As many as 52 per cent usedsocial networking sites, 47 per cent used emails and 45 per cent used instant messaging. However, the report found no evidence that "children's written language development is being disrupted by the use of text abbreviations".

The Rafale is a twin-engine delta-wing multi-role jet fighter aircraft and is called an"omnirole" fighter by its manufacturer. Introduced in 2000, the Rafale is being produced both for land-based use and for carrier-based operations. Apart from France, India would be the only other country to use the Rafale.
